Wayne's "Best of the Best"
My 10 favorite pellets! In easy, sample-size bags! One pound (8-9 Woodfire cooks) of pellets in each bag.
This package is similar to my "Flavor Box" selections, but is focused more on what I personaly consider to be the best of the best pellets available. For the most part, they are what I personally use. Listed in the order of my personal ranking and frequency of use. They are mostly all single-species or full-tree products
1. Knotty Wood Almond Cabernet - My favorite all-around pellet! Very rich, without harshness or being overpowering. SUPERB for thicker cuts of beef!
2. Cookinpellets 100% Black Cherry - My #1 go-to for pork! Also superb on poultry
3. BBQ Pellets Red & White Oak Blend - This is THE PELLET for "Texas-style" brisket! It's as close as you can get to REAL offset smoker flavor!"
4. Smokin' Pecan - Pecan SHELL - Similar I guess to Pecan wood, but "deeper." VERY multi-purpose. Have used it on pork, poultry and seafood.5. Knotty Wood Almond - This is my favorite of the "mild" pellets. similar to Pecan, but with an almost "buttery" finish. Very muti-purpose. Will be great on literally ANYTHING!
6. Knotty Wood Plum - Sweet, dark. More how the fruit looks than how it tastes. Somewhere between pecan and cherry. With a little more "complexity.'
7. Asmoke 100% Apple - EVERYBODY needs an apple pellet. This is one of maybe three 100% fruitwood-apple products available. VERY multi-purpose, but this Texan prefers it on pork and poultry! Due to it being much darker than other apple products, I believe this to be a "full-tree" pellet.
8. BBQr’s Delight 100% Peach - Peach is another of the "classic" BBQ woods. More popular in the East / Southeast US. I consider it the "Pecan of the Eastern US" woody, sweetish. VERY multi-purpose. A favorite for salmon! This is a verified, 100%-Peach pellet. All peach, nothing else!
9. Royal Oak 100% Charcoal - a good pellet. Many people claim it delivers "charcoal grill" flavor. I'm not so sure I subscribe to that. But it's a good pellet, EVERYONE needs a charcoal. And having the most nitric oxide of any pellet, it will get you closest to a "smoke ring."
10. Cookinpellets 100% Hickory - What's more "classic BBQ" than Hickory? Everyone needs a Hickory pellet in their arsenal. This is 100% hickory, no base or BTU woods. If you like Hickory, THIS is the one you want.
